I had an absolutely fantastic weekend, and I’m so grateful to my friends who made it that way.
Saturday started with me driving down to Massachussetts for a last-minute Justice-of-the-Peace wedding. The ceremony was very short and the whole thing was beautiful; it made me tear up along with the Justice herself and the three members of the wedding.
After I got home (one $25 EZ-Pass ticket poorer, thanks for making sure I had the newest tag available, New York), I was able to spend a lovely few hours rereading an old favorite of mine, The Raven Ring by Patricia C. Wrede:

A quick note about any products I may post on the site: I am an Amazon affiliate and use Amazon to link to the products I talk about. As I only earn 4% on any purchase (for example, if you decided you wanted to buy a used copy of this book, which is $4.50, I would make a whopping $0.20), I mainly use it for the photos, which I can use without fearing the wrath of the copyright gods. However, I believe in complete transparency and want to be upfront that I do in fact receive a very small commission off items listed for sale here.
After my afternoon spent in the fantasy land of Lyra, Ian and I headed over to our friends Lyla & Hank’s house for the best meal either of us has ever consumed in our lives. I offer a blanket apology to friends or family who may feel offended by that statement, but I’m talking a 5-course, expertly made, authentic Chinese meal that was beyond superb. I have the rest of the entry behind a cut due to the many delicious Chinese food pictures I posted, so….
My apologies to Hank, who only appears in these pictures in the form of his hand. We were having entirely too much fun for me to notice.
On Sunday, Ian & I were finally able to coordinate a good time to hang out with our friends Courtney and Adam. Adam is a guitarist and we tried playing a Muse song together to see how it sounded. The verdict: awesome. Since Muse is a challenge for one guitarist and singer to successfully pull off, Adam wants to try to record the bass line and program a drum line to see if we can make it work. With any luck, we can actually do something with this, that would be cool.
All-around, a fantastic weekend.

Oh, boo, that would be such fun, too! I’m really excited to be able to start posting up songs once we get going.
