My favorite part of “Me and Ian” is how ridiculous we can be.
Right now, Ian’s in the bathroom singing a Taylor Swift song he heard on the radio earlier today. Why is he doing that? Because of me and my inexplicable love for all things teenybopper.
Ian does a fair amount of humoring me when it comes to music, TV, places we go, and things we do. Luckily, most of these things have started to rub off on him enough that he can see why I really get a kick out of Taylor Swift songs, and why I think “Sonny With a Chance” and “iCarly” are the cutest freaking shows on TV.
He’s developed not just a tolerance, but an interest in the storyline of “One Tree Hill” – I know that’s a true statement, because I caught him looking up the storyline on Wikipedia so he could get a better idea of what was going on in the show. And that’s why I love him.
I know a lot of professional bloggers say you’re not supposed to write about your significant others or your families, but my little “Ian plus animals” family is what I have in my life, and that’s what I know and makes me happy.
If I didn’t write about how we drive around in the car singing along to Miley Cyrus (“It’s thaaa cliiiiiiimmmmb”), how we eat an average of two Trader Joe’s microwave burritos a day, how we play SingStar and Rockband together on the PS3, how we randomly stop and have little dance breakdowns in the kitchen, and how we have long and in-depth discussions about the merits of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, I’d be leaving out my favorite details about my life.
If you can’t be happy with someone as nerdy as you, what’s the point? Find your best friend, hope to god you have some sort of sexual chemistry with them, and get busy laughing your way through life. Otherwise, you’re doing it wrong.
When it comes down to it, I’m a pretty serious nerd, and I have found one sexy geek to share my goofy life with. My mother couldn’t be more proud.
